Painting and Decorating

AB Napoleonics from my collection
Welcome to the My miniatures painting service.  If you find your not getting enough time to paint or you simply have too many figures to paint and you like what you see on this blog, then contact me. Send an email via the device at the bottom of the page and lets see if we can arrange to get those extra miniatures painted, to a good standard and at a reasonable price. Speaking of which.....

Blended layers on gripping beast crusaders
....... let me give you some generalised or ballpark prices before we get too carried away, the prices are a guide only because as we know figure detail and quality varies between manufacturers and periods.

25/28/30mm single figure on foot $10.50 a single horse and rider $15.50 and a single horse without a rider $10.50

20mm single figure on foot $7.00 a single horse and rider $11.50 and a single horse without rider $8.00

15/18mm single figure on foot $4.00 a single horse and rider $7.50 and a single horse without rider  $4.00

Finally for the aficionados and collectors there is a display quality service, unfortunately I cant give even a ball park figure as the piece would have to be seen and a price determined on the intricacies of the sculpt. This service is offered for 28mm and heroic scale figures only.

All prices above are for unbased miniatures, basing POA

All figures are primed and base coated as you would expect and good quality acrylic paint is used throughout, Reaper, Vallejo Game and GW (occasionally enamels are used to achieve some effects). Good quality clear lacquers in matte, satin or gloss are used to protect and enhance the finished miniature, yes that's right satin and gloss, for those that like the classic wargaming look. OK we now have a rough guide to prices and materials, next is my little list of conditions and explanations, they are in no way extraordinary and will help in making choices using the Paint Pig painting service, of course if you just want your figures painted sans a care go straight to the bottom of the page!

THE WEIRDNESS OF PAINT PIG

On to my little list, read it in good spirit as it was written in such. What I'm really trying to do is explain how much I'll take on, what I'll take on and how long I'll take to do it.  Just like you my time is my most precious asset, I do not want to risk becoming a slave to my hobby so therefore I will reserve the right to adjudicate on which commissions I'll take or not, as I see fit on the day and of course prior bookings.
  1. I do not paint at any great pace, so claim virtue and be patient I will finish them as soon as able.
  2. I will not accept large commissions. I expect no more than twenty or there abouts figures per order and I'm particularly fond of painting specialty groupings such as command groups, cannon and crew, skirmishers etc. You can ask for more per order but I would suggest this may be wishful thinking, a limit of twenty per order allows others to have figures painted.
  3. I paint to one table top standard only and I will paint your figures as I do my own so check the blog carefully. Alternatively you may want a display quality piece?
  4. I can however offer you a choice of styles, firstly there is the more contemporary looking using a blended layering technique with a matte of satin varnish. Alternatively my take on a traditional classic look using washes and glazing with a satin or gloss finish. There is also the third option of the standard three tone layered style, and I can direct you to any number of sites offering this service. Some of them quite exceptional
  5. Requests will be entertained as to specific details and colours however a clearly understandable description must be provided with accompanying images.
  6. I will only paint figures from brands and periods I enjoy painting, in 20-30mm scales (15mm on application).  This also applies to uniforms and periods although this will usually influence the cost not the willingness.
  7. I do not purchase the figures, you send them to me. If you do not want to pay the exorbitant hourly rate I charge for my labour you will deflash, file mold lines and generally clean up the figures before sending. Of course if it doesn't worry you I wont let it worry me and paint them as is
  8. Updates of WIP will be via the Paint Pig blog unless otherwise stipulated. I, however, reserve the right to post photographs of the WIP and finished commission on the Paint Pig blog, anonymity will of course be respected if requested.
  9. Price will be negotiated on application and will be in the vicinity of what I know other painters are charging for their work, prices may vary slightly with brands and greatly with period. Payment is expected to be 50% before commencement with the balance due on completion, assuming you want to see your miniatures alive again? As we get to know one another payment will not be required "up front" before work commences, however it will be required before return postage. For enquiries contact me off blog.
  10. I will return figures via 1st class signed post or as you suggest otherwise, either is at your expense.

As you have read, this commission service is offered under these few (ok 10) restrictions and conditions, however depending on how antsy I am on the day. I also reserve the right to alter, adjust, remove and implement new restrictions and conditions as I see fit and without notice or recompense and probably change them back again the next day. I reserve the right to be a cranky old fart! Now if there is anyone left out there and still reading on then you must be wanting something painted, that's good, but before using the device at the bottom of the page to contact me off blog you had best read on, no it's not steak knives. I would like to make this service informal and friendly money and payment problems can work counter to that, so please make sure you understand the following statement fully, I will keep anything that isn't paid for and will sell it to recoup my efforts,  the remainder of the funds being sent to a registered charity, you can choose which if you like..

Please take note before making "that" enquiry, I do not paint- flags, only some shield designs, motifs, bloody tartan or crosshatching, writing, nipples, pubic hair or anything else that is likely to be a pain in the arse. Remember god invented decals just for wargamers...........  so use them!

regards
Paint Pig
